10 Simple Ways to Support Fellow Artists (Even If You’re on a Budget)

At Hamletta Studios, one of my core goals is to support and uplift fellow artists. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking we’re in competition with one another, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Every artist has a unique voice and perspective, and there’s plenty of room for all of us to thrive. Our art resonates with different people, creating connections that are as diverse as the art itself. As long as we’re staying true to our own creativity (and avoiding copying others’ work—big no-no!), we have nothing to fear. Instead of competition, let’s focus on community. Here are ten simple, budget-friendly ways to support your fellow artists and grow together.

10 Simple Ways to Show Some Love

  1. Boost Their Work Online

Snap a photo of their art in your space, gush about it on your Instagram stories, or pin it to your favorite mood board. Don’t forget to tag them!

  2. Leave a Little Love on Their Posts

Comments, likes, shares! A quick “This is amazing!” or “Beautiful work!” can brighten their day and help them reach more people.

  3. Shop Small and Sweet

Can’t afford a big ticket item? Grab a sticker, a print, or a digital download! Every little bit counts, and trust me, they’ll be super thrilled to get even a small sale!

  4. Shower Them with Glowing Reviews

Bought something amazing? Worked on a project together? Leave them a raving review that potential customers can’t ignore, whether it’s on Etsy, their website, or your social media outlets.

  5. Show Up for Their Big Moments

Whether it’s an art show, a craft market, or a virtual live stream, being there brings them joy and makes them feel supported.

  6. Spread the Word

Know someone who’s looking for the perfect piece of art or a creative collab? Say, “Oh, I know just the artist!” You might just spark something magical.

  7. Feature Them in Your World

Write about them on your blog, give them a shout-out in your newsletter, or highlight their work in your next social post.

  8. Respect their creative process.

Instead of overwhelming them with requests or unsolicited suggestions for what to create or how to change their work, offer thoughtful and kind feedback only when it’s invited. Art is deeply personal, and every piece holds a bit of the artist’s heart. Be mindful not to pop their creative bubble or sow seeds of doubt. Avoid harsh, sweeping comments like, “That will never sell” or “No one will want this.” Support is about building their confidence and inspiring growth, not tearing it down. Let’s uplift, not stifle, their artistic journey.

  9. Send Some Good Vibes

Sometimes, all it takes is a quick “You’ve got this!” or “Your work inspires me!” to keep the creative juices flowing.

  10. Check your insecurities at the door.

It’s easy to compare, but remember: every artist is on their own unique journey. Don’t let your own doubts turn into negative comments toward someone else’s work. Behind every masterpiece is countless hours of effort, practice, and heart. Let’s celebrate the hard work and dedication that got them there—and use it as inspiration for our own growth!

In a world where AI art is on the rise and often steals the spotlight, let’s not forget the magic that only human artists can create. Every brushstroke, sketch, or digital masterpiece holds a piece of someone’s heart, soul, and story—things no algorithm can ever replicate. Now more than ever, it’s vital to stand together, cheer one another on, and remind the world why human-made art truly matters.

Supporting fellow artists doesn’t require grand gestures or big budgets—it’s those small, meaningful actions that make the biggest difference. Picture a world where we’re each other’s biggest fans, sharing inspiration, spreading creativity, and making the art community a magical, uplifting space. Let’s create a vibrant, supportive community where every artist feels appreciated, their work gets the spotlight it deserves, and we all enjoy the journey of lifting each other up. Together, we can foster an inclusive, flourishing space where every artist’s unique voice is recognized and celebrated.
